We answered
some questions
—
Transparency is at the heart of all of our client work. Here are some answers to the questions we get most often …
do you have a waitlist?
Yes, at this time there is a waitlist to begin design projects with the APD team. Please touch base with us on our timeline as it’s always changing.
What does full service design mean?
Full service interior design is a comprehensive and custom design experience. In the case of APD and our service offerings, it is a complete design of your remodel or new build construction project, specifically addressing all of the details pertaining to your new build/remodel project.
how long should i expect the design process to take?
A lot of variables come into play when defining the timeframe of a project. In the beginning, as we figure out the detailed scope for the overall project, we help to put together a general framework for the design timeline which can be adjusted as we work through the project. Typically design for renovations takes anywhere from 3-6 months and new construction takes 12+ months.
Do you offer furniture design services?
While we love furniture, décor, and every aspect of design associated to those finishing touches, at this time we only offer furniture design, sourcing, and procurement for our remodel and new construction clients. Should you be looking for furnishings design only please let us know as we have some amazing designers that we love to refer work to!
is my project large enough?
As a design firm that focuses on the construction side of design, we are focused on working with clients for their remodel and new home build projects. Our remodels include a minimum of a kitchen or one bathroom, and often incorporate other additional rooms ranging all the way up to a full home remodel. For new construction, we do not have a minimum square footage required.
do you offer drafting services or drawings only project work?
We understand that not every project needs a full service design package. While we do not offer a service package for project drawings only, we do have someone that we refer that work to! Please let us know if you are looking for someone to just draw your remodel design and we will put you in touch with someone who can help!
do you offer e-design services?
Currently we are not offering e-design services at this time. But please stay in touch as this is a service we are considering to add in the near future.
Are you a general contractor?
No, we do not act as a general contractor on our projects, nor do we function as a design build firm. However, we work hand in hand with the general contractor or builder of your choice to see you all the way through to project completion. We have established outstanding working relationships with a select group of contractors in the Portland metropolitan area and frequently recommend contractors to our design clients.
Do you work with clients outside of portland, oregon?
We love to travel and will happily take on projects outside the Portland metropolitan area! We have completed projects ranging from eastern Oregon to the Pacific Coast. Remote projects have added layers of complexity and require a longer design process … so please be prepared that we may not be available to begin your project immediately.
what is your fee structure?
Our designs are billed on a flat fee basis, invoiced across the anticipated lifespan of your design process. The flat fee is tailored to each project, which means the number is generated based on the amount of time we believe it will take to execute your design (we do not quote standard fees for specific rooms). This also means that you know how much design will cost from the beginning!
Once design for the scope of work is completed, we do require that our time for construction support is billed hourly.
how many clients do you work with at one time?
The amount of work associated to each project varies based on the scope of that project. In order to maintain the highest level of service to our clients, and to avoid design burnout, we limit the number of projects we take on at one time … and our projects are strategically staggered to effectively manage work loads. Please anticipate that there will be a a wait time to begin your design project.
what are your terms & conditions?
Ok, so maybe this is not a FAQ … but we thought you might like to know anyway! You can find our Terms & Conditions outlined here.
